Stonehenge, also known as Salisbury Stone Ring, is composed of dozens of towing boulders weighing about 30 tons. The vertical stones are arranged annularly to form a multi-layered annular space together with the boulder traversing in the air, creating a centripetal spirit field and meanwhile extending the space outwards to include the sky, the land, the sun and the star, which results in a shockingly mysterious aura in the vast expanse of plain.
The project is located in Longhua District, Shenzhen City. The facade of the hotel is fan-shaped, facing the urban green park. The first-layer column, the wind and tube well are also arranged in a fan shape dispersedly. The space design of lobby was inspired by the circular sequence of Stonehenge.
The gap space is used to replace the wall to divide and integrate the inside and the outside. Each gap space is wrapped by a multi-layer interface, which separates the functional layer from the decorative layer to make them real and clear.
The inner space and the outer environment observes and peeps mutually, forming open, closed, contracted, extended, dynamic, static, gathered, and scattered landscapes.
The design considers how to reconcile the multiple limitations of the current surroundings, and also predicts the dynamics of the future environment. The strategy of borrowed scenery internalizes the limited scenery, which not only establishes the defense against the unfavorable exterior, but also allows the external scenery part of the landscape.
The reflection of the window view extends into the interior of the lobby and scenery relativity forms a sense of order focused on the center of the venue through multiple axes, which extends the relationship between environment and architecture to the relationship between architectural space and site atmosphere, and the correlation between the self-consciousness of hotel space and urban culture is explored.
The development of Shenzhen city is the epitome of a giant era. The rapid growth of the concrete jungle represents a speed and thought. The project is close to Shenzhen North Railway Station, a core business hub in Greater Bay Area, where an endless stream of mobile and resident business travelers flows to this coastal city full of romantic and adventurous spirit.
The structure of the ceiling shows a suspended tension, and a relatively excellent balance is achieved between the large volume and the light decoration. A visual sense of lightness is pursued, just like the sparkling sea surface coordinates the flowing light and shadow.
The city with burgeoning economy is filled with a booming atmosphere and full of openness and tolerance, where various cultures and concepts of life blend. People’s persistent pursuit of and passion for the ideal world evolves to a romantic fantasy in a free floating order.
This adventurous revolution is against the modern world of rationalization, technicalization, industrialization, and urbanization. Romanticism spread to all over the world, then a new concept was born and a new mode of thinking and feeling was expressed by painters, poets, designers, and philosophers.
The restaurant is a social place for urbanite. It may be a detail, may be the whole tone.Light and transparent inspiration runs through the design, like a window opened from a dream, as if some whispering conversation is heard. The story of space tells.
The hand-blown glass lamp and the leather detail on the chair shows a sense of refinement and intimacy. A large area of the wall is covered with fancy crystal glazed handmade bricks, like a quiet curtain with a poetic theater.
Based on primitive desires, food carries people’s emotion and imagination. This is a space that consumes the desire, like a perfect bite of food, transporting you to the scene that are both familiar and exciting.
To some extent, the spirit of adventurism began with the marine civilization, and the renaissance of the city began with the seafront. The courageous challenge to the unknown or the known is people’s thinking towards the outside.
Publicity and privacy intersects in people’s flowing living condition and frequent business travel, and the hotel gradually becomes “complex”. Living comfort is as important as humanistic concern and design exploration.From comfortable cloth material and large areas of warm color to wooden furniture and lighting atmosphere, a dense and soft atmosphere is exuded, like being trapped in a warm and fluffy dream.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau believes that the light of enlightenment brings light, but not warm and drives away the darkness but not through people’s hearts. The hotel belongs to passers-by, and the future belongs to romantics and adventurers.
The overall design and construction schedule of the hotel is compact, and efficient communication and cooperation between different teams is a necessary condition to ensure the quality of the project. The economy is developing rapidly and the society is changing fleetly. Whether it is willing or not, the hotel industry is involved in the tide of rapid realization. A designer must actively participate in it with the original responsibilities, face time, capital, power and desire directly, seek constantly and finally find the answer to the question.
